A soccer game can make a little boy really tired!!

Caden had his first Soccer game today. He has a lot of fun because so many of his friends are on his team. He was pretty proud of himself, he scored one of the goals.

What a natural!!

Sarah's first day of gymnastics was amazing! I wonder if she had as much fun as I did!! She loved it. She especially liked that her friend Elizabeth was there. This is the kind of thing that Sarah is meant to do. as we were leaving, her teacher said that Sarah was unbelievable and strong. i am so glad that we found something fun for Sarah to do.

Desert

The kids had the first Friday after school off so we took a last minute camping trip while the weather was still warm. Caden really wanted to go with his friend James so we decided to all go together. We normally do pick fun and COOL places, but this time we ended up in the desert. I was a bit of a poor sport when we got there, but the kids had a blast. The kids really love to play with the Hawkes kids so they all had a really good time!!!



Don't know that it's really a good idea for the kids to be climbing on these, but they really liked the Indian petrogliphs.


Hannah really enjoyed eating of course!! She and Anna had fun.



Caden and James found this little tee pee that they decided was "built by Indians a long time ago".

She sure looks cute here!! Hannah had a really good time camping up until bed time when she realized that she had lost her binki. Daddy searched everywhere. It was already really dark so he didn't have a lot of luck. We tried laying with her in the tent but she just screamed her head off. Daddy, being the hero that he is, put his little girl in the car and drove 40 min. away to Nampa and got Hannah her Binki. The car ride put her to sleep and when they got back, she slept the rest of the time.

We took a little hike to this bridge we saw in the distance. It was a lot of fun. Hannah was so silly because it must have made her dizzy to walk across the bridge. She kept looking down and acting really dizzy so daddy had to carry her. She liked it if Daddy helped her look over the edge.

The day has come!!!

Kindergarten!!!!. . . . Aghhh. . . I cant believe the day has finally arrived. Anticipation and nerves has become a reality, My little boy is going to school. Caden strarted School on monay. He was so cute!!! He wanted to go by himself, but we convinced him to let us come. We are so proud of him and so excited. I hope Caden adjusts to this new routine and enjoys school. When I asked him how his first day of school was he said, " we always have to stand in line forever"! I am going to try and volunteer in the class once a week. I am looking forward to this year.

Caden and Haven

Getting on the bus to go home. I went to the school to pick Caden up since it was his first day, but when i got there, he told me that he wanted to ride the bus. I watched him get on then drove home really fast to watch him get off. The bus was one of the things he was most excited about

Icouldn't help it. I know that the floor isn't the best place to share a popsicle, but they were so cute. Hannah and her little friend, Anna.

Precious

Hannah is growing up so fast lately. she's not my baby anymore, she is my spunky little girl. Please notice her feet. She LOVES shoes!!! Even if they are too big and warn around the ankle. She wants to do everything like her big sister Sarah.

Monster garden

When we got back, the first thing the kids did, (with the exception of Sarah, who ran right up to her room to see if her bed was still there), was to go and see the garden. It was too dark so we decided to wait til morning. We had some monster size zuchinni and the corn was ready to be picked. The kids are loving thier garden.

On the road again: Day 10

On Saturday night, we went to Ryan and Shannon's house (a friend that Scott went to PA school with). It was really fun to see them and their kids. Scott and I told the kids when we got back, "go to bed because we are leaving early in the morning to head back to Boise". We had every intention of getting up early and heading out. IT WAS THOSE DANG OFFICE EPISODES THOUGH!!! we stayed up til 2 in the morning popping those discs in. "Just one more". Needless to say, we didn't get out of town until 11am. Oh well. We're home aren't we?!? the trip took us ten

hours, but the kids were wonderful and we made a lot of fun stops on the way. We stopped and swam at the little park in Arlington. Little Hannah is such a water baby. for Caden it was an adventure and Sarah was so proud of herself for being brave and "going so deep". We had an awesome vacation, very memorable and relaxing, but it is so nice to be home.

The train ride was definately a highlight of the zoo.

Portland Days 6-8

On Monday we left the coast and headed for Portland. we stayed on the East side of the river across the Sellwood bridge. In all the time that we lived there Scott and I never really went on the east side of town very much, so it was fun to see a new place. there was a lot of fun stuff to do. We had a park, pool, and fun shops near our house. Scott was in a medical conference during the day so I had a lot of time with the kids. We went on a lot of walks, played at the park, art projects and swimming. It was so fun to have a lot of uninterrupted time with the kids.

Day three

We played on the beach all day long. We had plans to get back and make dinner, but since it was such a beautiful day, we decided to go beach hopping. We stayed at this one til sunset. what a beautiful day!!!

Sarah got brave today since it was warm. She was so proud of herself!!!!

Day three

Beach Day!!!
We woke up to the most beautiful day! The sun was shining so brightly and it was super warm. Of course it was Sunday. We got the kids ready for church and took them down for sacrament. We came home and packed a lunch. Scott looked on a map and thought that otter rock would be a fun beach. It was absolutely perfect. It was a nice sandy beach with a really fun water area and tons of rocks…….it was just awesome. The weather was perfect, the kids had a blast. With the warmer weather even Sarah played in the water. Caden built a little canal from where we were sitting all the way to the ocean. He had a great time. We got the kids cleaned up to head back to the condo to eat dinner then Caden reminded us that he wanted to buy fudge. We told him we would go back out after dinner but after pulling into the condo, we decided to just go back out and spend the rest of the day outside. We grabbed some quiznos and headed to the bay. We spoiled our dinner a bit by taking the kids to the candy and ice cream shops. Then we walked to the beach near the base of the bridge. The kids really loved this beach because of all the dunes. They spent a lot of time rolling down the hills. Caden was determined to build a fire. He gathered up all the driftwood he could find and he and daddy tried and tried to get a stick to catch fire. The girls and I went down and played by the water. The sunset was beautiful. On our way out cute little Sarah said, “I want to go home and take a nice warm bath with the jets on”. Caden just wanted to get back and have fudge, so we went home and did just that. It was an awesome day!

Day two

To Sarah's credit, she did play for a little bit before she got wet and cold, but notice how bundled up she was after she got a little wet. she would not take her hand off her hat.

Tide Pools & Waves

We started the day off to a wonderful breakfast made by Daddy. Apparently, (lucky for me I guess), Daddy makes “the best French toast”. Caden even asked Daddy if he would give him cooking lessons. Caden has never asked me for cooking lessons. Scott just loves tide pools so he wanted to take the kids to see them. What a fun time they had. We went down to cobble beach, known for great tide pools. Caden had an especially good time. They saw all sorts of stuff, like, “sea enemies”. Caden found about 4 star fish. Their favorite part was all the different kinds of crabs they found. Hannah, the animal lover, kept wanting to hold them. Later on that day we took the kids to the beach by the condo. It wasn’t the warmest day. It was actually kind of raining. That did not stop caden and Hannah. They just ran right in. We had to keep a very close eye on Hannah because she wanted to go in deeper and deeper by herself. She LOVED the water. Caden had a lot of fun running through the waves. He went in so far that one knocked him right over. He was soaked from head to toe. Sarah, however, was not so fond of cold water and dirty clothes. We had to take her pants off, I wrapped ger in my jacket, and she sat bundled up on a blankie. Notice that she has her hand on her hood so that it won’t blow off and get her cold. That is how Sarah sat the entire rest of the outing.

Day one

Multnomah Falls
This was the first day of our 10 day vacation. Caden was just so excited to get out the door and go to Oregon. He loves to travel. About 45 min into the trip, I believe we weren’t even to Caldwell, he asked if we were there yet. Scott told him we had a ways to go still and he said, “Oh, I’m never planning a trip again”. We got to Cascade locks at about midnight. All three kids had finally fallen asleep, but only about an hour before that. They just wouldn’t give up!!!! They were so excited to be at the hotel. We were right by the bride to the Gods and the train and Sarah just thought that was awesome. We woke up the next morning, had breakfast and drove to M falls. We thought that we would hike up to the bridge and see the falls and come back down, but Caden and Sarah did not want to stop. Those little hikers just kept going up and up. Scott has made the trip past the falls to the coast many times and he always looks for the road that leads to crown point (it is a lookout that overlooks the whole gorge area). We found the way so Scott was so excited about that. The kids just thought it was fun to put the quarters in the binoculars and look out at the river. After all our stops, we headed for the coast. We ran into traffic problems on the way, but we finally made it Fri. night. The condo was great!!! We went down to show the kids the ocean. It was a super cold and even a little rainy but that did not stop Caden and Hannah from trying to run in.
