It only took about six hours to get them done. I decided to get domestic this year. Normally I stock up on cases of peaches and pears at Costco but inspired by friends and mother-in-law, I decided to take on the task of canning them myself. It was a long and messy job but well worth it. I just attended the Women's Relief Society Conference where we were encouraged to go out and create. The talk was so inspiring. It made me think of this canning experience we had last week. While I do not create many things, I felt a wonderful sense of satisfaction and accomplishment as I lined up my little jars of pears on the counter for these pictures. My very CREATIVE friend came over to help/teach. Even the husbands pitched in. We all had so much fun. When our husbands got home we put them to work but they mostly just cheered us on (I think there were a few comments on cheaper canned goods at the near by Costco though........hmmmm). The most important part is that We created something beautiful and DELICIOUS!! Our kids got to have so much fun playing together and hopefully they'll tuck this day away in their little memories and Autumn will remind them of Mommy canning pears.

My wonderful hubby peeling the pears.
Karin did an awesome job at manning the cutting station. Thank you!!!!
Uhhhhh......are there supposed to be pears and glass chunks floating around in the water? Hey, we're rookies. with Jim's engineering expertise we were able to alter our strategy. Don't put cold jars in boiling water. Our children ate well!! Jim was kind enough to order some pizzas and whip up some tasty root beer floats.
After we were all done my wonderful husband stayed up with me and scrubbed the cabinets and cook top. What a man!!!!!!
